The Challenge
Morris Hausmeisterservice is a property maintenance company based in Heimenkirch, Bavaria. When they decided to wrap their service fleet and order embroidered uniforms, they hit a common problem: their only logo file was a small, heavily compressed JPG pulled from their old website.
The logo features a detailed Alpine landscape with mountains, pine trees, a chalet, a lawn mower, garden tools, and script text — all packed into an oval badge. At 400 pixels wide, the artwork was far too small and pixelated for a 2-meter-wide vehicle wrap.
Why Auto-Trace Failed
The client's sign shop tried running the JPG through Adobe Image Trace and three different auto-vectorize services. Every result had the same issues: the mountain peaks were jagged, the lawn mower was unrecognizable, the script "Morris" text was distorted, and the file was bloated with thousands of unnecessary anchor points.
The Manual Redraw Process
We manually rebuilt every element of the logo in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen tool:
- The mountain range, pine trees, and Alpine buildings were redrawn with clean curves
- The lawn mower and garden tools were reconstructed detail by detail
- The script "Morris" typeface was matched and refined character by character
- The Bavarian town name "Heimenkirch · Allgäu · Bayern" was re-set in the correct typeface
- The outer oval badge was drawn with mathematically perfect curves
The entire logo was organized into named layers — background landscape, foreground tools, text band, and outer oval — so the sign shop could separate elements for different production methods.
Final Deliverables
- Adobe Illustrator (.ai) — fully layered master file
- EPS — universal print-ready format
- SVG — scalable web format
- PDF — high-resolution portable format
Production Applications
- Fleet vehicle wraps (2-meter scale)
- Embroidered uniform patches
- Business cards and letterhead
Results
The finished vector printed perfectly at full vehicle-wrap scale with no artifacts. The embroidery house used the layered EPS directly for uniform patches.
